Mustangs Drop Dual Meet to Stillwater
Ponies’ Depth and Experience Sink Mustangs
The Mounds View Mustangs swim & dive team traveled to Stillwater to take on the always tough Stillwater Ponies on Thursday, January 18. The hosts won 11 of 12 events on the evening program and cruised to a 95-79 victory, handing the Mustangs their first dual meet loss of the season. The Mustangs were without four varsity swimmers due to illness, but that was really not much of a factor in the outcome. Junior Will Goldman was the only individual to record a win for the Mustangs in the 50-yard freestyle. With the loss, the Mustangs are now 5-1 in the Suburban East Conference (SEC) standings with two dual meets remaining on the schedule. (Read more)

Mustangs Clinch Meet Next to Last Event
The Mounds View Mustangs swim & dive team hosted the East Ridge Raptors at Chippewa Middle School on Thursday, January 11 and came away with a hard-earned 97-83 victory. The Mustangs won 7 of 12 events on the evening program and posted a number of season’s best times to run their Suburban East Conference (SEC) dual meet record to 5-0. Sophomore Will Quackenbush recorded a pair of wins in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle. Junior Ian Boyles won the 50-yard freestyle, junior Will Goldman won the 100-yard breaststroke, and junior Tad Tomczyk won the diving event. The Mustangs also won two of the three relay events, which was one of the keys to the win, along with a favorable ten point margin in the diving well. (Read more)

Mustangs Now 4-0 in Suburban East Conference
The Mounds View Mustangs swim & dive team traveled to Cottage Grove on Tuesday, January 5 to take on the Park Wolfpack and came away with a 96-79 win. The Mustangs won 9 of 12 events on the evening program to run their Suburban East Conference (SEC) dual meet record to 4-0. Sophomore Will Quackenbush was a double winner for the Mustangs, finishing first in both the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle events. Sophomore Isaac Pan also picked up a pair of wins in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard butterfly. A trio of juniors also notched big wins for the Mustangs - Tad Tomczyk (diving), Coby Lessard (100-yard backstroke), and Will Goldman (100-yard breaststroke). Mustangs Dominate Young Bears Team
The Mounds View Mustangs swim & dive team hosted White Bear Lake on Thursday, January 4 at Chippewa Middle School and notched their third win of the season with a convincing 102-68 decision over the Bears. The Mustangs won 10 of 12 events on the program to run their Suburban East Conference (SEC) dual met record to 3-0. Senior co-captain Quinn Doan was a double winner, taking home first place in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard breaststroke. Junior Ian Boyles was also a double winner with victories in the both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle. Senior co-captain Kyle Peterson won the 200-yard freestyle, sophomore Isaac Pan won the 200-yard individual medley, and sophomore Will Quackenbush won the 500-yard freestyle.
